Project: On Cloud Nine

Here we are with another project blog post! Guys, this was my first project. Well aside from my own home, it was my first project that someone actually trusted me to turn their home into exactly what they had been envisioning. My clients were honestly the best first time clients you could ask for. They trusted me completely, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t disappoint!

This home turned out so beautiful. The homeowners wanted a modern farmhouse feel, so that is exactly what they got! As soon as a client mentions modern farmhouse, I instantly think white, black and shiplap. All while encompassing a nice modern flare. I think we nailed it! Let’s start by looking at the kitchen…

The Kitchen

Before the renovation, this kitchen was brown beyond belief. Brown walls, brown countertops, brown backsplash, brown floors. It was time to say bye bye to the brown and hello to the white! After all they wanted a modern farmhouse kitchen, so white was the best option. This kitchen got a major facelift! The only thing that stayed the same was the kitchen cupboards. They were in decent shape, so I knew I could work with them. By replacing the laminate countertops with a white quartz, it instantly elevated the shape and took it to the next level! Another feature that screams modern farmhouse, is the apron sink. We decided to go with one large deep sink. It’s really the sinks of all sinks. Simply stunning and a real show stopper! Take a peek at the before and after photos below!

The Breakfast Nook

I LOVE a good breakfast nook, so I was really excited to transform this space. My clients use this space to eat most of their meals, but it just wasn’t functioning properly for them. A big reason for that was the table. It was too big for the space and it made getting in and out of the nook difficult because of the position of its legs. Replacing the table was high on my priority list because functionality is KEY! We had a table custom made to suit the space and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. The other feature that I love about this nook is the shiplap accent wall. Placing the boards horizontal really gives off that modern farmhouse feel and I’m all for it! Replacing the light with an oversized pendant really added a statement piece to the nook. Now here’s the lovely before and afters…

The Entryway

This entryway was dark and cluttered with random stuff. It wasn’t functioning properly for the homeowners. We decided to get rid of everything they had in their entryway and start from scratch. We brightened it up with a fresh coat of white paint and added a runner to the stairs for texture and warmth. We created function by adding a table to set their keys and mail on. We grounded this table by adding a faux cowhide rug underneath. I love that we chose a rug that in unexpected! We added a chair for taking your shoes on and off and baskets to catch mitts and hats from the kids. This space is now bright and functional! Here’s the before and after photos. Wow!
