Tips For Creating A Cozy Bedroom

Hey Friends!!

It’s been a while since I've written a blog post! Too long if I’m being honest. I’ve been busy busy over here the last couple of months. From working away on projects, to planning photoshoots, and well, trying to enjoy these beautiful, short, summer months. Blogging got put on the back burner. BUT here I am today with a whole new topic to discuss, and that is bedrooms. How to create the ultimate cozy experience.

We spend a lot of time in our bedrooms. Nearly half our lives! Crazy when you think of it that way, eh. That’s why it’s important to create a comfortable, cozy space to rest and recharge in. Believe it or not, if your space isn’t creating that element of relaxation, and is just filled with clutter and randomness, it can actually have a negative affect on your mental health. Since renovating our bedroom, I feel a sense of peace when I crawl into bed each night. What a great feeling!! And you know what, I want you to have that exact same feeling too. So here are my tips to help you reach that ultimate cozy experience.

Creating The Coziest of Cozy Bedrooms

1.     Layer your bedding.

Layers, layers, layers! I can’t stress this enough!! No bed should stop at just a sheet and blanket. Try including a quilt under your duvet, then add a beautiful throw blanket for some added texture. Create a lux feeling in your own bedroom, as if you were visiting your favourite hotel. Speaking of hotels, do you want the best sheets ever? Check out White Terry Home. Their sheets will rock your world! You’ll never want to get out of bed!

2.     Add Drapery.

Drapery will instantly elevate your space and create that cozy feeling you're longing for. I would suggest going with a solid print. This will allow the eye to relax and not be distracted by a busy print. After all, the goal is to ease your mind. A beautiful linen fabric would do the trick! Ahhh I can just feel the coziness just thinking about linen drapery.

3.     Paint your walls a calming colour.

If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m a neutral lover. I prefer light coloured walls. White is always my go to… It’s peaceful, quiet and soothing! No one wants to walk in to a big loud coloured room at night. Not unless you’re a toddler! Keep it neutral my friends!

4.     Add a rug under your bed.

You wake up, you swing your legs around and your feet drop down on… a cold floor? NO, your feet drop down onto a cozy warm rug! Please add a rug under your bed. Rugs are your key ingredient to creating your cozy bedroom space. Even if you have carpet in your bedroom, I would still suggest layering a rug on top. It nicely anchors your bed and creates the perfect cozy look!

5.    Create ambiance with right lighting.

Lighting is such a crucial step to designing a space. Getting it just right is super important. It portrays a certain mood in a space. I would suggest a beautiful overhead pendant above your bed and some lamps on your nightstands for that layered look. Tip: put your lighting on a dimmer! Nothing worse than waking up to bright lights!

6.     Incorporate wood elements.

Not even just wood elements. Any natural element you can find will bring a layer of peace to your space. A connection with nature gives us a feeling of being grounded. I love incorporating wood tones with greenery in pretty much any space!

7.     Add a comfy chair.

Add another dimension to your bedroom by creating a reading zone. A place to sit back and read your favourite book or just chill and listen to a podcast. Adding a comfy chair introduces a different element to the space and another level of comfort.

8. Pillows, Pillows, Pillows!

Last but certainly not least, include throw pillows to your bedding decor. Not only do throw pillows add comfort, but they introduce pattern, texture and personality to your space. I’m all for throw pillows!
