Project: Park Street

New project alert!

When I first met with my clients, I knew it was a match made in heaven. We connected right away and I could tell that this project would be one for the books.

My clients originally reached out as they felt like their home didn’t reflect their aesthetic or lifestyle the way that it should. They wanted a space that was modern with clean lines that really represented them. I’m happy to say, that we achieved just that!

Let’s dive into the details!

The Before

The Details

When my clients told me they wanted a black kitchen, at first I thought, eek how am I going to pull this off!? The space was so dark already and I didn’t want it to feel even darker. So my thoughts were, I need to A: tear down some walls. B: paint the walls a bright colour. C: contrast the black with some white. All this should do the trick! And well… it did! We tore down some walls and added the transom windows in the dining room to allow for more natural light to pour in, painted the walls a bright white and went with a white quartz countertop.

The real showstopper in the kitchen is the stunning marble backsplash that we added behind the range. The veining and movement is so intriguing that your eye is immediately drawn to it. Not only did we add it behind the range, but we added it to the face of the island as well. This created a continuous and cohesive feel to the space. I know there’s a real fear about marble staining, but I say embrace the imperfections that it brings. A space should feel lived in!

My clients are big on entertaining and they love wine. I knew right away that I needed to incorporate an area that would house all their delicious wine and spirits but with a fancy twist. I decided to add a hidden bar in the middle of the pantry. The pocket doors are a nice touch as they open right up and tuck away making the bar feel like it’s apart of the space and perfect for entertaining guests.

One cool thing to note about this kitchen is the cabinetry. We decided to go with rift white oak, stained black. We loved the detail that the wood grain brought to the space and we knew that it would hold up really well over the years.

While we kept the footprint of this space generally the same, this kitchen is nothing short of amazing. We love the modern clean lines against the high contrast. All the tiny details were paid attention to and final product is truly stunning. Check out the after below!

The After

I hope you all love this space as much as we do!!
